Mommy here, recording this story on the blog for posterity.
Driving home from Maddy’s appointment at St. Christopher’s today, Maddy was in her car seat, playing with a stuffed purple bear that her first preschool teacher, Miss Jamie, had given to her after she had missed some school when she was sick.
She had been playing with the bear during the drive, and kept trying to get Bill’s attention. She asked him to look at her bear. He responded that he couldn’t, because he was driving, and had to watch the road.
She asked, “What does he look like?”
Bill said, “He looks like a bear.”
Maddy: “He’s a cat, you idiot.”
Never in my life have I had to work so hard to avoid busting out laughing. As we tried to maintain our composure, we told her that was not a nice thing to say, and wondered where she learned to say something like that. But we were both hysterical.
